Employees in agriculture and jobs in the food industry are growing. At the same time, primary-sector businesses are planning hundreds of thousands of new hires, with significant demand in livestock farms too.
In 2025, in the South and the Islands, 86.4% of primary-sector businesses planned new staff hires.

The central role of the Bronte area
According to USDA FAS, the Bronte area accounts for about 90% of Italy's pistachio supply. For 2025/26, Italian production is expected to be around 4,100 tonnes, with good quality expected.
Global pistachio production forecast, in-shell basis.
Global exports are expected to grow by 6%.
Volumes are expected to rise by 10% compared to the previous season.
Driven by new products, healthy snacks and growing interest in plant-based eating.
